Things we loved in May

A running list of the small things that made May better than it had any right to be.

The short list

• A film we watched twice in one week and quoted for the rest of the month.
• A farmers’ market find — the first proper strawberries of the year, eaten on the walk home before we’d even reached the door.
• The houseplant that, against all odds and our track record, has decided to live. We’ve named it. We won’t say what.
• A long Sunday call with friends we don’t see enough, the kind that ends three hours after you said you had to go.

Small things. They add up.
